About the artist

Blake Rayne

Blake Rayne, born in 1969, is an American artist who values the process involved in creating his works just as much as the final product. Through folding, cutting, sewing, and draping, Rayne investigates the institutions of painting and creativity, oftentimes emphasizing the labor associated with making such works. Rayne’s work is held in the public collections of institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His first survey show came in 2016 at the Blaffer Art Museum and surveyed his career from 2003 onward.
